Lameya’s father’s day family portrait

Family illustrations, Other family portraits

It was an absolute delight to work on this portrait for my friend Lameya – not least because it makes for a pretty stunning mix – her Bengali family living in Scotland allowed us to explore some serious cultural mash up with a kilted dad and a saried mum.

I loved drawing this sari in particular, a family favourite, from quite an old photo – showing that memories from the past can still resonate strongly in the present.

And as we have a doctor in the house, we can all feel safe and secure. As well as incredibly stylish with Lameya’s fabulous swan outfit and headpiece…

Great to see how happy they are about their portrait!!

Happy father’s day, daddy Chaudhury!!
